A simple exercise to encourage students to develop paragraph style.

Give large flipchart paper to groups and ask them to ‘lengthways’ divide into 5 sections. Then they fill in the sheet with a boardmarker.

Each ‘strip’ represents one of the PEELE sections of a paragraph:
P= point (introduce key idea of Cohen)
E = explain (explain the key idea from Cohen)
E = evidence (discuss Cohen’s argument)
L = link (to the question ‘assess the contribution of subcultural theories….’)
E = evaluate (critique)

Each group then shared their work and others added imporvement suggetsions in coloured felt pen.
